To read some of the vitriol, you’d never believe Korra ends the show explicitly happy.
I believe the words they’re looking for is “at peace”. Korra is at peace with herself, with the things she went through, with her place in the world and her future.
Not to mention, one thing I’ve seen pointed out is it’s the only finale in which Korra doesn’t shed a single tear.
